OFRENDAS
This series is in honor and appreciation of the ofrendas that are such a vital part of El Dia de Los Muertos. My aim in these works is to illustrate the love and intention that are intrinsic to the ofrenda. My purpose is also to celebrate how an individual's story is depicted in an ofrenda as well.
El Dia de los Muertos is a Mexican holiday during which families welcome back the souls of their departed loved ones for a celebration honoring their lives and memory. Ofrendas are shrines dedicated to honor the loved ones who've passed. Along with the traditional marigolds, candles, incense and sugar skulls, ofrendas are filled with the loved one's favorite food and mementos to encourage their spirit to return home to visit with friends and family during this holiday.
